Dynamic Duo: Tom and Eva

Kimmy’s Garage would like to feature Tom and Eva Ullery on today’s blog!

IMG_0270

Tom and Eva Ullery bought a red 2014 Mustang GT back in 2016 and one day decided to go to the racetrack to watch some drag racing. When they pulled up to the entrance to pay and watch, the attendant said “why not race your car?”. They looked at each other and said “why not!?”, they paid to race the car, rented some helmets and that is where it all started!

Ever since that first race together, they have taken every opportunity to go back to the tracks and race the mustang. They have made some changes to the car to make her louder and faster.

The engine and transmission are still stock,  so they added:

  • JLT Cold Air Intake

  • Kooks Headers

  • Barton Shifter

  • 90 Gears

  • Put on ET Pros Mickey Thompson tires

  • We also had an AWESOME tune done by Kevin Hand at WICKED Motorsports.

Even with minimal changes, Tom has run the car with his best ET of 11.58 with a 1.50 sixty foot in a quarter mile.  Eva has a best ET of 12.39 with a 1.70 sixty foot in a quarter mile.  “I know we will be getting faster soon.  We are having such a great time racing the car and also doing this together.” states Eva.

After learning so much about the industry and because they love it so much, Tom decided to get his own Mustang.  So a year later, they bought a 91 Mustang Notchback.  With the help and expertise of their good friend Rick Riccardi of Riccardi Racing, LLC, Tom is getting hands on training and doing lots of the work with Ricky. “I fell in love with racing and all the people involved with it and I’m just looking to go as fast as possible!” says Tom.

With the help of Dave Jack Cylinder Heads and Bob Oster Engine Builders, they are working to make this car a low 9 second car.  The equipment list includes:

  • It will have a 412 cubic inch engine

  • QA1 Suspension

  • UPR K-Member

  • Weldon Fuel System

  • Chassis work by Matt Wirt

  • Wiring by Rich Concato

  • Aerospace Components for brakes

“I want to just thank Aerospace Components for their top-of-the-line billet aluminum brakes!” says Tom.

George Pavell’s Smooth ’48 Fleetline

Kimmy’s Garage would like to feature George Pavell and his 1948 Chevrolet Fleetline!

20170909_184159

This 1948 Chevrolet Fleetline was an 11 year build, Pavell felt no urgency to complete it and he wanted to push himself and this car to a level most would not choose to go. He found the car in the state of New Jersey, and acquired the car in a trade for his old Cutlass. He traded a complete car for this Fleetline as a roller! “I was originally in search of a Deuce Nova for a pro touring build, but after running across this early fat fendered Chevy, I just knew the direction I had to build… one of the craziest fat fenders on the planet” states Pavell.

20180120_191203.jpg

The ’48 Fleetline is a true pro street with a back half. Pavell was aiming for a 50/50 build, 50% race car and 50% high end hot rod. This is not your traditional blower, parachute, wheelie bar car, but instead a race themed car with a ton of smooth and details, all done very subtly.

Features of the 1948 Chevrolet Fleetline:

  • Solid roller 406 with 210 pro filer heads

  • 11.6.1 comp forged light weight internals

  • 850 quick fuel with simple plane ported hurricane intake

  • Roster t400 terminator tranny with a 3,500 Neil chance converter

  • Aluminum, PST driveshaft 9″ Ford with 31 spline axles and a Detroit locker

  • Aerospace Components front and rear disc brakes

  • Holeshot racing wheels and M/Ts tires 33×19.5 rears

  • Accuair air management system with ride tech double adjustable shock waves air ride

  • 4.56 gears

One of Pavell’s favorite parts of the car is the Aerospace Components disc brakes, “built by a great staff that were the most helpful of any vendor during this build” says Pavell.

As for the body, “so many mods, but all done very subtly, absolutely every piece of metal on this car has been smoothed from the body to the motor block and tranny rear, etc. As well as every weld, the frame has been smoothed and painted body color.”

Pavell finished the car in July 2017 and has been awarded with 23 awards after 13 shows, with 6 of those being “Best of Show”. He is looking forward to a full 2018 show season!

This is an overview of the Aerospace Components dual real brake system.

It can be used on any type of dragster or door car. Depending on how you plumb it, it can be utilized as a dual system to limit any brake failures and/or to hold your car at the line for building boost with turbo cars

Here are a few pictures of how, on this particular dragster, the system is plumbed with the stainless steel braided line:
